100-hour Dima Hasao Strike commences today

HSDP or the Hill State Democratic Party called for a 100 hour strike in Dima Hasao district from Monday, though the neighboring place of Karbi Anglong is getting back into a normal life. The incidence of formation of Telngana, a different state from Andhra Pradesh, aroused the leadership of this too hill districts to come up with the demand of a different state. The whole movement of separate state is taking a new twist as 14 senior members of Congress in Dima Hasao including Depolal Hiojai joined HSDP.

This decision of the congress functionaries will surely give some oxygen to the movement. According to Hojai, a separate state is a necessity for the people of this region and there is no better platform other than HSDP to raise your voice in support to that. Now, it should be noted that a 36-hour Dima Hasao strike was already called by the Joint Action Committee of Dimaraji Movement, which ended on Sunday and was successful partially.
